Patrick Joseph O'Brien was born on St. Patrick's Day 1925 in County Cork, Ireland. He emigrated to Boston in 1948 and worked his way up from dock worker to owning his own shipping company.
Patrick was a proud Irish-American who never forgot his roots. He helped sponsor dozens of families coming to America and was active in Irish cultural organizations throughout his life.
He and his wife Kathleen raised six children in their Dorchester home, where Sunday dinners were mandatory and Irish music filled the air. His booming laugh and firm handshake are still remembered by all who knew him.
